Classes like advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) are now mandatory for all employees working in hospitals. ACLS is an advanced skill set taught to medical personnel who work in areas of the health care field who may have encounters with patients that require interventions beyond the scope of BLS. Nurses working in settings such as the ICU, ER, should certainly know ACLS and continue to recertify as per current AHA recommendations Many learn valuable skills and can save lives, and should be encouraged to participate in ACLS. In this training, there has been a written test, Mega code test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, and a CPR and AED skills test. This course is primarily designed for emergency, intensive care, or critical care healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may need to respond to a cardiovascular emergency.
